The Launch of Her Campus, an online magazine for Wheaton

September 20, 2011

Today we launched Wheaton’s Her Campus online magazine! YAY!

Her Campus is an online magazine and national network that represents different college campuses across the United States. My gorgeous friend Kenya found out all about Her Campus and brought it to Wheaton! She had been telling me all about it over the summer, but it wasn’t until the week before school that the core group of our branch was formed. And what a lovely group it is! Kenya and Amanda are our Executive Editors, Maria is our Secretary and I am the Managing Editor.

Over the summer, I had made a conscious decision to more actively seek out writing opportunities and just put my work out. Writing, one of my big loves, has sadly been low on my list of priorities for most of college. This year, I don’t want that to be the case anymore. When Kenya told me about Her Campus, I jumped on board at once, knowing this was the opportunity I was looking for.

During the week, I spend at least fifteen hours in the art studio and at least nineteen hours in the dance studio. Unlike college students pursuing other majors, I spend so much less time reading and writing in general. I definitely felt the need to pump up those hours as much as my schedule will allow me outside of art and dance. And since none of my classes at present require many texts to absorb or papers to compose, I get to choose what books to pick up and what poetry or prose to spit out.

So, click here to see Wheaton’s lovely Her Campus website, and click here to see the article I wrote about coming into my senior year in college. Take a look!

And here’s a semi-random photo with my gorgeous friend, Erin (the E to my T. Hehe), from convocation! (Now if only I could find the cable for my camera! Will add more photos to this entry when it is found.)

T + E, at convocation September 6th.
