Sunday Flea-ing
I spent much of my day by the window. Reading. Snacking. Watching movies. The gray rainy weather called for it! The hours I spent away from the white window overlooking the street, I spent wandering around Williamsburg. My cousin had recommended the area to me, knowing it would be just my thing. Today was my last chance to make it over there, so before the day escaped me, I got on the subway. I found my way to the East River State Park and Bedford Avenue, where I fell in love with the flea markets and lovely stores; these quirky, creative treasures. I chanced upon Artists & Fleas on 7th Street. If you are ever around the area on Saturday or Sunday, definitely stop by (or check out the website- a lot of the vendors sell stuff online too!). There are tons of vintage stuff, but it was the handmade jewelry that blew my mind! All over the neighborhood, there was so much art around me, and so much of it was wearable! I wish I had known of the place sooner and kind of wish I was one of the vendors at the market, selling pretty stuff of my own.
I capped off the lovely, lazy Sunday with a quick late night run on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. I made my way up and down the length of it a couple times, weaving around people winding down their own Sundays with some walking. I didn’t expect to have so much company, but the neighborhood seems to be taking great advantage of the long weekend and the lovely view of the bay. I spotted a lot of lovely couples, cute families and even a few dogs; but all the babies I had seen during my morning run last week were probably all snuggled up and sleeping already. I caught my breath, sitting on one of the benches, listening to the comforting sound of cars rushing by on the busy expressway below. I felt like I was looking out of a window again. A wide, window with a wide and open heart.
(I had a bunch of photos to share, but thanks to all the recent packing and unpacking I have had to do, the cable for my camera has so inconveniently gone into hiding. Next post!)
